Artist’s Statement

My art is inspired by everyday life experiences: light illuminating the lilies on the pond, a striking photo in the news, a certain facial expression, a dream or insight. When these visions, ideas, or desires unite with a possible technical solution, a new work gestates in my imagination. The creative impulse merges and is altered by adaptation to the art material; a dynamic dialogue develops between the easel and my mind in the special time/space of the studio.
